Eva D. Wheelock 94, of Base Hill Road, Keene, NH, died Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Applewood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH.

She was born in Keene, NH, June 19, 1917, the daughter of Antonio and Marietta (Grande) Dostilio. A lifelong resident of Keene, she attended St. Joseph Regional School in Keene and was a graduate of Keene High School.

Mrs. Wheelock was a 1936 graduate of Keene State College earning a degree in education. She also attended Hyannis State College on Cape Cod during the summer months.

In 1936, she was employed by the Keene School System, teaching at several of the elementary schools until all of the sixth grades were transferred to the Keene Middle School where Mrs. Wheelock continued teaching math and science at the Keene Middle School until her retirement.

Mrs. Wheelock was a lifetime member of the Keene Education Association serving as vice-president and secretary for several years, the New Hampshire Education Association, and the National Education Association.

She is survived by a sister, Lisetta Howe of Springfield, VT, nieces and nephews; James Sturtevant of Bronxville, NY, Mary Sturtevant of Sugar Hill, NH, Anthony Dostilio of Keene, Carol Redfield of Marlborough, NH, Douglas Howe of Springfield, VT, Pamela Annotto of Milford, Conn., Deborah Hashour of Myrtle Point, Oregon, Pamela Bodnar of Bandon, Oregon, two cousins; Norma Mallat and Ann Sara Williams of Keene, several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces, great-grand-nephews, and many dear friends including Randy and Charlene Fowler of Keene, and Betty Croteau of Swanzey, NH. Her husband, Howard E. Wheelock, whom she married August 21, 1948, died March 27, 1993. Three sisters; Mafalda Sturtevant, Bertha Webber, and Irma Dostilio, and two brothers; Orlando Dostilio and Francis Dostilio, died earlier.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:30 AM in St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Rev. Paul B. Boudreau, Jr., Associate Pastor of the Parish of The Holy Spirit, will officiate. Family and friends are welcome. There are no public calling hours.

The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH, is in charge of the arrangements.
