Evadeen (Dee) Miller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2024.
Evadeen Joanne (Dee) Miller, June 26, 1930-August 5, 2024, went peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior in Heaven surrounded by her children in Klamath Falls, Oregon at the age of 94. She moved to Crystal Terrace in February of 2022 to be near her daughter, Carol, and her family. She had many friends there, including special friend Erwin Ritter, and contentedly enjoyed her view of Mt. Shasta and the people she shared her life with there. She stayed active, especially enjoying her time outside.

Dee was born in Melrose, Wisconsin, the youngest of three girls, to her father, a truck driver, and her homemaker mother. She married Wallis Eugene Miller of Monticello, Minnesota on June 16, 1951 and was a devoted wife and fellow adventurer with Wally until his death in March of 2002.

Dee and Wally moved to California in 1952.

They spent their years enjoying a country life on Genasci Road in Nevada City, traveling frequently in their motorhome after retirement.

They moved into Grass Valley where Dee resided until 2022. Dee loved God, loved people, and was always happy to lend a hand to her family and friends. She was active in her church and Lady Lions, and drove for Sierra Services for the Blind for many years.

She was always an adventurer. She went skydiving for her 75th birthday. She loved to travel and drove solo to Minnesota/Wisconsin in the late 70's. Whenever the Miller family gathered there would be a map on the table. When Carol, a long distance Trekker, would call, her first question would be, "Where are you?"

Dee is survived by her children, Lynn (Cheryl) Miller, Kevin (Charry) Miller, and Carol (Paul) Ritter. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with one more coming in October.

Her family gathered at the Ritter family farm in Bonanza, Oregon and camped together at the farmhouse. A large circle of family shared stories, memories, tears, and laughter on the lawn. We followed with a caravan to the Lone Pine Tree Gravesite on the farm where Dee's beloved husband Wally's gravesite is, and everyone took a turn adding her ashes to the grave next to his. She will be treasured by all of us as a matriarch who taught us integrity, love, values, and a heart for God.

Dee was one of our best volunteer drivers at the non-profit I work for while she was in Nevada County. She was dearly missed when she moved and will now forever be a part of our organizations history. She helped and touched so many of our clients.

I worked with Dee in a medical office for 10 years. We became friends during that time. I loved her! She was so kind and had an infectious smile. Wonderful memories of her flood my memory as I think of her now.

Carol, your Mom had such a positive countenance! She seemed to love time with your kids, and I remember enjoying her company at games. Big hug, and deepest condolences to your whole family. No matter our age, or theirs, the loss of a parent causes something that feels like the earth shifting beneath us.
