My sincere condolences to the Cooper family. Mr. Cooper was a wonderful music instructor. I have fond memories of my years performing on the football field in the marching band, performing in the Jazz ensemble and going to concert band competition in Montreal. Thank you Mr. Cooper may you rest in peace.

Wow! This is a real surprise to me of his and his wife's passing. I was in his marching and concert band from 1986-87. My first thoughts of him were a bit scary and intimidating at first. However, as I got to know him, I knew him as fair and dedicated to his work and students. I liked him towards the end, and I saw him again around 2001-2002, during a visit to NVD with a friend and one of his band members from NVD. At that time, I vaguely remembered me because at that time, I was obviously older with glasses. He seemed a bit more quiet, but was still friendly. I also found out that he was on the administrative side. Thank you very much Mr. Cooper for the memeries and your lessons.

I think that photo was one of his younger photos. The Mr. Cooper (Band Director) I knew had glasses (definitely no disrespect to him). He was a strict, but fair teacher. I was kind of scared of him, but I learned many lessons from him, including keeping focused on detail and playing and working with a dedicated team. I was a 2nd year high school student at the time, but looking back, I would have wanted him as my music instruction and mentor again. Thank you Mr. Cooper for the memeories. Manny!

It's 2024, and I'm just finding out about this. And I didn't know that his wife passed in 2017. Damn. I was a member of his band from 1982-1986. I hope he remembered me as fondly as I remember him.

My thoughts and prayers to the Cooper Family. Over the course of his career and retirement Evan taught the joy of music and the arts to thousands of Bergen County youth. We started as colleagues who became friends along the way. No doubt he is enjoying heaven's music with his beloved Claudia.
God Speed Evan. You will be missed.
