Evan was born in 1922 in Lamont, Alberta, and raised in Edmonton where he graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce. During WWII Evan was commissioned as a flying officer with the RCAF and married Jeanne his childhood sweetheart. After the war, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and began his business career. Evan was appointed to the Provincial Cabinet in 1975 where he served as the Minister of Finance and then the Provincial Secretary until he retired from politics in 1983. Evan had many different interests... He had a passionate love of music, playing with many bands throughout his life. He was a long time member of the Vancouver Curling Club and competed as part of the BC team in the MacDonald's Briar in 1959. Evan enjoyed playing golf at Shaughnessy in Vancouver and at Desert Island in Rancho Mirage. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Vancouver, and an active member of the YMCA. He enjoyed summers at Qualicum Beach and winters in Rancho Mirage. Always keen for a game of golf, or to play the piano for his family and friends... His keen sense of humour and quiet support will be greatly missed by all. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, May 27th at Ryerson United Church, 2195 West 45th Avenue. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the YMCA or the Salvation Army in his memory.

I'm so sorry to hear Mr. Wolfe passed away. I always remember how kind he and Mrs. Wolfe were to my mother and I, in Palm Springs, when my father(Fred Martin) was hospitalized there. Take comfort in your memories and in knowing you are in the thoughts and prayers of many.

I'm sorry to hear Mr. Wolfe passed away. I had the privilege working for him in the Parliament Buildings from 1975 to 1981. He was such a kind man and always so fair. He was a terrific person to work for and I'm honoured that I had the opportunity to do so.

To the Wolfe family,

I am saddened to hear about Evan's passing. I had the privilege of knowing him for many years and had a deep respect for him... not just for his many accomplishments... but as a man of integrity and honour. He was a true gentleman and I am certain he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

A man can be judged not just by how he lived, but by those he leaves behind. Frank, Mike, John, you are more than just friends to me. Dixie and Jeanne, we only met a few times but they were memorable for me. Steve... we go back many years and I consider you a good friend as well.

The fond memories you have, hold on to and share of Evan will, I am certain, help you through this time.

I feel and understand your pain and my prayers are with you all.

Rest well, Evan.
