Eve Bunting

Award winning Eve Bunting was ahead of her time when she uniquely tackled various hard-hitting topics in her storytelling for children - or were they? Many lessons for us adults too. The feedback she got from some kids showed her that the kids knew what she was trying to do and say - specifically about a book that on one level was about the riots; but on another level it was encouraging all of us not to judge people by their outward appearance.

One historical leader said to adults who indignantly protested his words found that some children appreciated his presence and words of wisdom. It inspired him to say these inspirational words: "Did you never read this, `Out of the mouth of children and infants, you have brought forth praise´?"

In her writings, Eve Bunting remarkably reflected those words in her storytelling!
