Evelyn Brooks Obituary
Nashville, TN
Age 87. She answered the Lord's call on Saturday, May 24, 2014 quietly in her home, from her earthly labors to receive her Heavenly reward.
She was the youngest of three children born in the marriage of David Alexander, Sr. and Vannoy Webster Alexander. "Evelyn", "Momma", "Grandma", or "Aunt Evelyn", as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was a devoted wife and mother, and enjoyed being around her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Duvalle Brooks; sister, Elizabeth V. Alexander and brother, David Alexander, Jr.
Survived by loving children, Vernita Justice, Dr. Thomas J. (Dr. Willie Mae) Brooks III, Andrea (Angela) Brooks, Faletha Reid and Elfreda (Victor) Tyler; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Tommie Mathews; a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public viewing Friday, May 30, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with family present from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., at J. W. Adkins Funeral Home, 2510 12th Avenue South.
Visitation Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral to follow at Kayne Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1025 - 12th Avenue South. Reverend James T. Trotter III officiating. Committal and Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Garden of Our Lord.
