Dear Cohen Family:
I got such a smile on my face-when you asked to submit this occasion.
It may have been Jordan's Bar Mitzvah, I was in the receiving line-hugging your mother and suddenly I felt the tags from the dress around her neck sticking out--she said in her funny happy voice :"Bunny, do not touch those---tags--dress is going back on Monday" "I just borrowed it". I have never forgot that wonderful sense of humor she had. I was in rehab this year--for a long time and I could have used her wonderful wit to keep me going. I know how much you miss her--Always remember the wonderful gifts of life that she left to all of you--those gifts are special-We can remember someone we love by the wonderful, happy things they have left us.
All my love to you and wishing you happy and healthy new year..
I hope you enjoyed my "funny" memory. Never did forget that
Warmest Regards,
Love, Bunny Z

There are people you come across in your lifetime that make an indelible mark on you and whom you never forget – Gary & Evelyn Cohen were those type of people. The fact that our lives moved us in separate directions does not mean they were any less loved or our time with them was any less wonderful.
They were a perfect couple – both witty and funny, and outrageous. Times with them were filled with laughter and loving that made your stomach hurt and your eyes water.
My dad’s company, Epic, and my law firm used to celebrate the December holidays together at a joint luncheon. One year, just a few weeks after an Epic employee had suddenly passed away, we were all in a private room at the restaurant. The mood was somber and no one was feeling festive. Gary, who had a beautiful voice, suddenly broke into an a cappella version of “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas”. It was so beautiful. When he finished, everyone started crying and then telling funny stories of the co-worker who had passed. In his own sweet and tender way, Gary broke the tension and let us celebrate just being together. Gary joked afterwards that the only one there who knew all the words to a Christmas song, was the only Jew at the lunch.
For the last thirty years, every time I hear the words “friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more” brings me back to that lunch and I shed a happy tear for thoughts of my friend Gary.
Anyone who knew them, knew they were so perfect together. Gary loved Evelyn and Evelyn loved Gary. They were two peas in a pod. They supported each other through good times and not-so-good times and helped each other in their business pursuits. I was fortunate to spend many hours conversing with them over their various legal matters. One of the most memorable was Evelyn’s business venture bringing people together - for fun and profit. There were many highs and lows, hilarious and sweet times involving that enterprise. I am grateful for having been along for the ride.
There are so many more memories of Gary & Evelyn that I hold dear. They were both loved by one and all and you should all be proud of what they brought to this world and the lives of their family and friends.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Gary Moody. From my experience, a wonderful man and a perfect partner for dear Evelyn.
Joanne and I express out sincerest condolences to all of you for your loss.
