I did not know at the time, but she helped to pave the way for guys like me who worked on the approach landing test simulator for the space shuttle at the Goddard Space Flight Center on the mid-seventies. Though I got my BA and MS in math and computer science. Personal circumstances prevented me from pursuing a doctorate in numerical analysis at American University where I was accepted in 1976.
Thank you Dr. Granville for showing everyone, including black folks, "we have brains too."
I will share your story with my 5 granddaughters ranging in age from 10 mo ths to 21 years.

What an inspirational life -- during a difficult time for black people, let alone black women, in this country -- yet she persevered - a testament to her strong character and resolve. So proud of her and her legacy. I am a graduate of Smith College that had the good sense to work with her and recognize her genius - so proud.

I had the honor of meeting Dr. Granville at The University of Texas at Tyler where I work in media relations. It was such a privilege to interact with her, and I was so encouraged by her story and accomplishments. I am grateful to have been in her presence and will always remember the historical advancements she made.
