Evelyn Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 16, 2025.
Evelyn Krystal 'Lynn' Smith, of Anacortes, WA, was found in Oregon on February 27, 2025, one day after what would have been her 78th birthday, after being missing for eight months. She passed away before she could be reunited with her loved ones. Her loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on February 26, 1947, in Seattle, WA, to Evelyn and Ernest Smith, Lynn lived a life filled with adventure, kindness, and resilience. In 1964, she married Clifford "Kip" Broughton, and together they raised two daughters, Jennifer Nugent and Tina Broughton. She created a warm and loving home in White Center before settling on Orcas Island and later in Anacortes.

Lynn began her career at Seafirst Bank, where she built lifelong friendships. She later joined Boeing but was forced into early retirement after suffering a brain aneurysm. Despite this challenge, she embraced life with joy, filling her days with the things she loved most, cherishing time with family and friends, playing dice, tending to her garden, and collecting rocks. She found companionship in her beloved cat, Luna, and found happiness in simply puttering. She had a deep love for the ocean, spending countless hours beachcombing for shells and sea glass, finding beauty in the smallest of treasures

Above all else, Lynn's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Jennifer Nugent and Tina Broughton. Lynn was a cherished grandmother to Mandi Nugent(James Ferguson), Kelsey Extine, and Nicole Extine, and a proud great-grandmother to Gabriel, Cody, and Sophia. She was a devoted sister to Margo(Eric) Lauritsen, Sandy(George) Savy, Judy Bohannon, and Richard(Janet) Bliss. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever carry her love in their hearts.

She is reunited in peace with her son, Richard; her parents, Evelyn and Ernest; and her brothers, Joseph and Ernest.

A gathering to honor Lynn's life will be held at Lincoln Park, Picnic Area 3, on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to assist with her final affairs can be made through the GoFundMe set up in her honor. Please visit GoFundMe and search 'Help Bring Lynn Home'

Words cannot express the void created in a families heart suffered after such a loss. My grandpa Joe would always call and say come by the house my sisters gonna visit, when him and my granny Shirley lived in west Seattle. He always spoke highly of all his siblings, to the family my family tree derives its roots from I love you all.
