Evelyn Passur Stern

Evelyn Passur Stern passed away October 27, 2016. Born in Ballinger, Texas on June 4, 1917 she was a San Antonio resident from 1953 to 2013. Besides being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was an accomplished seamstress and a successful business woman having owned her own fabric store in Crane Texas. She volunteered her time for the PTA and enjoyed raising funds for various charities. She and Max were the go to couple for handling friends and family estates on the weekends. She served as the corresponding secretary of her Hadassah chapter for many years, was a proud and active member of the Red Hat Society, and was one of oldest members of Temple Beth El. Her collection of matching necklaces and clip-on earrings was known far and wide. Her famous Kahlua bars, peach Jell-O, marble cheesecake, and eggplant parmesan dishes were enjoyed by everyone and were all big hits at Paul's fraternity house and certainly will be missed by all. She loved her many friends at the Madison Estates and would welcome any new resident with good old fashioned Southern hospitality before moving to the Village of Meyerland in Houston. There she proudly proclaimed that she was to be called "TOB", a tough old bird. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years Max, parents Bertha and Nathan Passur, brother Charles Passur, wife Bernice, and her brother in law Barnett Tobin. She is survived by her son Paul and wife Barbara, grandsons A.J. and Jacob their wives Laura and Alejandra, and great-grandsons Saul and Nolan, sister Helen Tobin, nieces Susan Chisum and Lanie Hill, and great nieces Brittany Chisum and Natalie Hill. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm, Temple Beth El Palmetto Cemetery, 1350 E. Crockett Street on Sunday, October 30th.
