Evelyn Butler Thomas

Evelyn Butler Thomas, age 95 passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021 at Passage Hospice Care of New Orleans. Evelyn was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She attended Xavier Prep High School and completed some college at Xavier University of New Orleans. She worked as a Care-Giver. She was a Parishioner of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. She preceded in death, her mother and father the Late Nettie Bailey and the Late Joseph Butler Sr., She was married to the Late Harold Thomas Sr. Survivors include two sons, Harold Thomas Jr. And John Wilson Ross Sr., Grandchildren; John Wilson Ross Jr, Jaquline Griffin, and Julius Thomas Ross. Great grandkids; John Wilson Ross III, Sagera-Maat Ross, Aakhu-Amsa Ross, Metcher-Sasta Ross, Khisa-Nefert Ross, Dejon Griffin, Jihan Griffin, Robert Griffin III, Gia Towsend, Brittany Lewis, Alfred Lewis, Baylor Griffin, Jania Griffin, Reese Griffin, Gloria Griffin, Gamey Griffin and the late Hakeem Lewis. Nephew Bonnifacio Robertson, and Christopher Robertson Granddaughter In laws; Patrice Ross, Measa Weres Gegzxiabher and Grete Griffin. Preceded in death by sisters, Gustavia Butler Barnes, Shirley Butler Robertson, Delores Butler Durrand, and John Butler, Charles Butler, and Joseph Butler Jr. Survivors; Gertrude Butler Robinson, Cynthia Butler Brown and Larry Butler. Relatives and Friends of the Family are all invited to attend the homegoing service on Friday, July 30, 2021 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1923 St Philip St, Visitation will begin at 9 am to 10am, Mass of Christian Burial starts at 10:30 am.
