Evelyn Ruth "Penny" Wellette

Evelyn Ruth Wellette, known affectionately as Penny, passed away on July 30, 2024, in Schenectady, NY, at the age of 66. Born on September 25, 1957, in Schenectady, NY, she was a loving mother and a proud grandmother, always cherishing moments with her granddaughter, Jordyn Grace Becker.

Penny is survived by her children, Jeffrey Becker and his wife Jillian; her cherished granddaughter, Jordyn Becker; her partner, Phillip Pietrowicz; and her siblings, Darlene Vanburen, Joe Vanburen, and Raymond Vanburen, along with several nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law and best friend Debbie Clother. Her family remembers her as a beacon of love and kindness, always putting others before herself.

Penny had to overcome so many obstacles in her life and was an extremely hard worker in her days as a manager at Henry's Dry Cleaners as well as Kem Cleaners. She did an exceptional job raising her only Child Jeff along with her ex-husband Robert Becker. Penny had her struggles with addiction, but always tried to rise above it and was successful many times. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held in late September, with further details to be announced. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Peter's Addiction Recovery, an organization close to Penny's heart. This gesture will honor her legacy of compassion and support for those in need.
