Everett Scott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 15, 2025.
Everett Daniel Scott, known as "Scotty" to friends and colleagues, "Danny" to family back home, and "Bipa" to his grandchildren, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Burlington, Vermont, at the age of 79, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on June 17, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, Everett grew up surrounded by family and the values that shaped his life. Those early years instilled in him a strong sense of character and commitment that stayed with him throughout his life.

Everett was a devoted husband to Lee, and a proud father to Michelle and Clinton. He shared a close bond with Michelle's husband, Christian, and found great joy in being a grandfather to Ruby and Leland. Family was always at the heart of his life. He remained close with his brother Raymond, and maintained strong ties with his nieces, nephew, and cousins. His loyalty and care for others were evident to all who knew him.

Everett served his country with unwavering honor and integrity. He joined the United States Air Force in 1965, serving for 23 years, and continued his service with the Department of Defense for another 35 years after retiring from the military. He and his family were stationed globally, including assignments in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Germany - visiting many other locations during his time abroad. Though his work took him all over the world, he loved to spend time at home and with this family - going for long drives with his wife, mowing the lawn or playing Boggle with his grandkids.

May Everett Daniel Scott's memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. As he was known to say to his team when he left each day, "See you later, Boys and Girls".

A Viewing will be held on August 18, 2025 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Crest Drive, Essex Junction, VT 05452. Burial will be held on August 19, 2025 at 1 PM at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, Vermont.

Dear "Scotty". I know we were only friends for approximately 10 years but you had such a profound impact on my life that I will never forget. When you moved in next-door to me, we became very good friends. From our talks about news from around the world to the state of our politics at home. No matter if we agreed or not, we always respected each other's beliefs. I know I was much younger than you, but every conversation we had was better than the last. I went through a rough few years and not only did you stand by me you were the first person to raise your hand in support of me. You knew I was human and that we all make mistakes. No matter if you knew I was right or wrong. You gave me the best advice possible. You were there for me while no one else was and I will never forget that. They don't make men like you these days and you are greatly missed. In the end, you ended up being like a Dad to me. You helped me through some of my darkest times... The last time we spoke was the night before I finally made it back to Gettysburg and was signing the paperwork on my new home the following morning. Without you and your words of wisdom and support, I honestly may not be here today. Thank you, you will always be missed.

To Scottys family.... just know that the man you called husband, a father and a friend was an amazing person and that he had an impact on everyone's life that he ever met. If you were blessed enough for him to be your friend like I was, you knew damn well he was a real friend and that friends like him are hard to come by. Just know he will be missed dearly and that he was truly one of the kind. Rest Easy Scotty!

Scotty was a great man who served his entire life to our country. I had the pleasure of serving with him for 3 years. During that time scotty never hesitated to pass along the knowledge he gained through decades of experience. We laughed together and most important of all we worked hard together. Scotty at work was a no-nonsense man. He held very high standards to all of those who worked with him and held even higher for himself. His dedication and laugh will be missed by many.

I served with Scotty on Baker Flight in Skivvy Nine, Osan AB, Korea. He was a great analyst and had many interesting times with him. Sorry to hear of his passing, too many have gone.

Scotty was my work dad. He truly cared about me and my family. He was always fun to have analytical discussions with as well as just sit back and talk about nothing. We tended to have similar view points of the world and I think that is how we drew close. He will truly be missed as well as his, "See you later boys and girls."

I'm so sorry to hear of Scotty's passing. My sympathies to Lee and his family. Scotty and I served together in Korea and at Fort Meade, Maryland. He coached the SUSLAK softball team at Yongsan in 1980/1981. Rest in Peace, my friend!

My deepest condolences to Lee and family. I still reminisce about Scotty and I eating lunch every weekday at the Navy Club at Yongsan, and Scotty always ate his French fries first before they got cold. It's the little things. I'm going to miss you Mr. Scott.
