I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't hear about Charlie until Sunday due to being out of town. My heart felt sympathy to all of you.

Charlie sat right across from me at Mt. Pleasant UMC every Sunday. He and I were equally as enthusiastic about the music our talented choir provided each week. We also worked together on the church's Relay for Life team. As I struggle to fully comprehend the shock of his sudden death, I'm drawn to one particular memory. I was sitting in church waiting for service to begin and Charlie came over and sat down beside me. We both must have been feeling down that morning because we began talking about how hard life can be and what a great place we were going to when it was finished. Then Charlie said something that has always stuck with me, "It's worth waiting for." There are times when we all feel like giving up on life, but if we just remember that our eternal reward is infinitely worth any earthly tribulation, we will be okay. Anytime I felt like giving up, I thought of Charlie's kind words of wisdom, and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. It saddens me that I never told Charlie what his words meant to me, but I take comfort in knowing that he will forever experience the reward we discussed which was, no doubt, worth waiting for. I pray he now knows the depth of my gratitude. God Bless!
