Ezra LANDER Obituary

Ezra Lander, 98, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2019. He was married for 52 years to his beloved wife, Patricia Daugherty Lander, who passed away on January 2019. They were long term residents of Chattanooga and had done extensive travel across the world prior to retiring to Chattanooga.
He is survived by his children from a previous marriage; son Elliott Lander and his wife Grace and their son Jason and his daughter, Emma; his daughters, Janice Lander, Marilyn Lander and Rozanne Black, her two children Kerin and Wes and his wife Susan and their children Garrison and Brooks. He is also survived by his sister, Dorit Galor.
Dr. Lander was born in 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Gussie and Leon Lander. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who specialized in cryptography. He held a Bachelor's degree from St. Louis University, a Master's degree from Cincinnati University and a PhD from American University. He worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as a Budget Officer.

Ezra was an avid reader, an active participant in the Tennessee Senior Olympics until the age of 89 and a member of the Jewish Federation of Chattanooga. His final resting place will be at the Veteran's Cemetery of Chattanooga.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Ezra will be laid to rest in the Veteran's National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
