F. WASHINGTON JARVIS III

I still remember him from over fifty years ago when he served at Saint Paul's Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He was charasmatic, energetic, thoughtful and caring minister. He had a mischeviious sense of humor. He taught my confirmation class in a large room with a chalkboard. While speaking he dropped the chalk and a student next to me in the front row picked it up and handed it to him. A moment later, he dropped the chalk again in front of my friend who again retrieved and returned it to Tony who had a sly smile. He hosted weekly youth supper nights in the great hall, discussed the heady issues of the day. My faith has waned since then. But I feel fortunate that I was able to know him so long ago.

One of our church's best ministers. Truly, he will never be forgotten in our community.

I know that I am very, very far from alone in having Tony as a mentor and friend, but every time I was with Tony, I felt a deep sense of love and encouragement. I miss him very much already. I wish I could be in Boston today.

Ned, Kristin, Teddy and family -We were saddened to learn of the death of your beloved "Uncle Tony". It is evident that he impacted not only the hearts and lives of his immediate family. He also left his mark in this world through his faith, humility and kindness to so many people. The good works of his earthly life will not soon be forgotten. It is with great sadness that I have learned of Tony Jarvis's death. I was a part of his first youth group at St. Paul's, Cleveland Heights in the 1960s. He was a huge influence for good to many, many young people. Indeed, Tony was a pied piper in the best sense. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
