Faye Askvig Obituary
Faye Ellen (Ralston) Askvig, 71, of Surprise, AZ, passed away on October 3, 2022, after a long illness with heart and kidney disease. She was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois until she retired to Arizona.
Faye was a 1968 graduate of Auburn High School and attended Rockford Beauty School shortly after. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary L. Askvig, in 1970. Faye and her husband moved to San Diego, California, while Gary was in the Navy. They then moved to Flagstaff, AZ, for a short time before moving back to Rockford, Illinois, and divorcing in 1995. Faye worked at All Rental and Wesley Willows before retiring to Surprise, AZ, in 2011.
Faye was an avid reader, loved cooking, sewing, garage saling, traveling, and spending time with family. She, also, recently completed her bucket list, which included The Golden Gate Bridge, the Redwoods, the wine country, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, and the California Ocean over a two week vacation with her daughter, Jossie. She will always be remembered for her love and kindness toward her family and friends. Also, for her love of strange foods. You never knew what you would be eating next.
Faye was survived by her three children: Gin (Jeff) Samons of Machesney Park, IL, Jossie (Sean) Hall of Surprise, AZ, and Shane (Lexi) Askvig of Davis, IL. Her two brothers: John (Mary) Ralston of Rockford, IL, and Les (Lisa) Ralston of Rockford, IL. Six Grandchildren: Cody Samons of Chicago, IL, Cory Samons of Machesney Park, IL, Alex Hall of Surprise, AZ, Kelly Hall of Surprise, AZ, Sami (Alec) Burns of Surprise, AZ, and Kaitlyn Askvig of Durand, IL. One great grandson: Owen Burns of Surprise, Az. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her best friend, Lavona Heivlin of Rockford, IL.
Faye was predeceased by her parents: David Ralston and Helen (Carr'e) Ralston of Rockford, IL. Along with many aunts, uncles and cousins. And special friends: Helen Samons and Celita.
Private memorial for the immediate family will be held at a later time.
