Faye O'Reta Lord

Faye O'Reta Lord (née Ferris), aged 95, passed away on July 22, 2024, in Valencia, Pennsylvania. Born on December 4, 1928, in Roanoke, Virginia, she was a dedicated teacher in Christiansburg, VA, and later served as an office manager at Plum Animal Clinic.

Faye was known for her generosity, thoughtfulness, determination, and sense of humor. She was also musically gifted, often playing piano for Sunday School at Unity United Presbyterian Church in Plum, PA, and at the Plum Senior Center. Her love for travel took her to the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, and on numerous river boat cruises across Europe. Faye was also an active member of the Republican Party of Allegheny County Committee.

She worshiped at First Christian Church in Salem, VA, and Unity United Presbyterian Church in Plum, PA. Faye was a proud alumna of William Fleming High School, Roanoke, VA, and furthered her education at Radford Women's Division of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the University of Virginia.

Faye leaves behind a loving family: sons William Scott Lord and James Corman Lord, daughter Lezlee Holt, and grandchildren Elizabeth Frances, Dylan Holt, and Cate Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Gambill Ferris and Mattie Mildred Wigington Ferris; sister, Paula Joanne Geary; and her husband, William George Lord.

Services will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, on September 13, 2024, at 11 AM. Soxman Funeral Home of Pittsburgh, PA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
