AMORY, MS - Faye Reed Herring Pickle, 75, passed away July 2, 2024 at her home in Amory. She was born on May 20, 1949, in Becker, Mississippi to the late Gloria Faye Thornton Herring and Iverson LeRoy Herring both of Becker, MS.

A lifelong Monroe Countian, Faye Reed grew up on Harmony Road in Becker and attended Becker School where she was the Valedictorian of the eighth grade class. She volunteered with 4H club all of her adolescence, accomplishing several national awards for her efforts. She graduated with high honors from Amory High School in 1967 and then continued her education at Mississippi College for Women as a Home Economics major.

Faye married the love of her life, Larry Pickle of Amory, on April 19, 1969 at Greenbriar Methodist Church in Becker. Larry, or Coach Pickle as so many know him, taught history and coached multiple sports throughout his 30 years at Hatley School. The couple were beloved by the kids he coached and she often spoke with fondness for the players and students that became more like family to them. They welcomed their son, Joshua (Josh) Branion in 1973, and their daughter Ivy Kathryn in 1983.

Faye Reed rose to the top of her profession as a Medical Assistant working for Dr. Wendall Stockton at Physicians and Surgeons Clinic of Amory, eventually managing the clinic until her retirement. She was an active member of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Association of Medical Assistants where she held many positions including Board President.

She was also a community leader serving on Leadership Monroe, Entertainment for Education, Amory Dance Company, and was instrumental in the preservation and restoration of The Windows of Amory. She and her mother, Gloria, shared the dream of preserving Amory's first church and it's beautiful stained glass windows. They both saw the need for a community arts education and performance venue and made it their mission to preserve the beautiful building for the generations to come.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, interior decorating, shopping, and visiting with family and friends. Faye loved her animals and never turned down a stray in need. She and her mother, Gloria, were best friends and you rarely saw one without the other. The two were an inseparable force of nature, inspiring multiple generations of like-minded women through their unwavering courage and convictions. The Liberal Ladies who Lunch Club were very near and dear to her heart, and as was her lifelong friend, Sammy Moon. She was so proud of her daughter, son, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and loved spending time with all of them.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; son, Josh Pickle, Amory, MS; daughter, Ivy Kathryn Kirkpatrick (Wes), Becker, MS; brother, Stan Herring (Jane), Nashville, TN; brother-in-law, Jerry (Horsey) Pickle (Julia), Stillwater, OK; sister-in-law, Janice, Amory, MS; seven grandchildren, Audrey, Alissa (Austin), Brittney (Justin), Colton, Maddie, Chloe, and Emma; nieces and nephews, Mason, Sally (Zach), Chris (Brooke), and Annie; a host of great-grandchildren and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her in-laws, Hester and Alma Pickle.

Celebration of Life Services were held Sunday July 7, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Rev. Claire Dobbs officiating. Visitation for family and friends was from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at 2:00 pm.
