Enrique "Chinch" Fernandez
August 26, 2024
A strong and caring mother, wife, sister, and grandmother, she represented a family institution.
I remember summers in her bodega as a child and how much I loved it there. A hub of activity for the family, she offered us Cuban sandwiches and coffee to nourish us, much as she nourished our souls with her love. She´d be quick with a joke and loved to laugh about life and its wonders (and absurdities). Personally, I never experienced someone with such wisdom, and I doubt I will again. Now that she´s gone, it´s hard to comprehend and appreciate the loss, and we are all less without her.
Although I will never forget her, I am happy she is resting her body as her soul lives on forever in heaven and in all of us. She was amazing, and I miss her dearly.
Rest in peace.
