I was shocked and sorrowed to learn just yesterday that my good friend and former rommmate at "X" had passed away. I'll never forget 'Hackett - two tees', as Win called himself when we first met at the train station in Montreal in 1959, awaiting departure to St. F. X. Win gave new meaning to the term 'sui generis'. As his obituary shows, he had a chameleon-like ability to adapt to, and excel at, the many and varied job opportunities that came his way. On the other hand, I can't help thinking that maybe, just maybe, Win had a short attention span and needed constant challenge. My challenge was trying to remember what his occupation was at any particular moment in time.
Win was, and remains, unforgettable, and I am proud to have been able to call him my friend.

Words cannot express our family's deep sense of loss and shock at Win's sudden departure.
We received the news as we were preparing for his sister-in-law, Yolande Thibeault Hackett's funeral in Stanstead, Quebec, later that morning.
Win and his family often returned to Quebec to visit relatives and and many friends in Montreal , Stanstead , Ayer's Cliff and Derby Line, Vermont.
We look forward to welcoming Lorie, Margaret, Terry, Debbie and Anna to bid a final farewell to Win in Stanstead, a serene setting in the mountains of the Eastern Townships, a place that he loved .

On behalf of all my brothers,
Mark, Lindsay, David , Guy, along with our wives and children, we are deeply saddened by Win's early departure from this world. When we had the opportunity to be with him, Win always brought a great amount of energy, humor and of course political satire. Win's passing has affected everyone in our family. We extend our sincere condolences. God bless him.
