Felixa Walton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 20, 2025.
Felixa Florence Walton, 77, of Walton, NY, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Felixa was born in the American Hospital, Paris, France, the daughter of Valla Kathryn Pietrovski. She was raised on a small farm in Dallas County, Texas, by her mother and Julie Savannah Florence. Felixa graduated from Grand Prairie High School (Texas), where she was an all-region choir selection. She attended Arlington State University, where she was a member of the Holiday Singers. In 1968, Felixa married Murray Walton, a loving union that continued until her death.

Felixa was formerly a member of the Austin Civic Chorus and Austin Choral Union, several church choirs, and sang for many weddings and funerals. She painted and excelled at pen and ink drawings.

Employed by the Dripping Springs (Texas) School District for 28 years, primarily as a Special Education teaching assistant, she also worked in the after-school childcare program. During her tenure, she was instrumental in the establishment of a career ladder for para-professional employees of the district, and the creation of a booster club for the high school drill team. She also served two terms as the president of the Dripping Springs Education Association, the local affiliate of the Texas State Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband, Murray Walton of Walton, New York; a daughter, Kathryn Walton of New York City; brothers-in-law, Merrick C. Walton, Sr. of Houston, Texas, and Martin N. Walton of The Netherlands; sister-in-law Mary Ann Emerson of Long Beach, Washington; 7 nieces and nephews; Julie Morris of Whitewright, Texas, a cousin by providence and love; and many friends.
