Fern Snyder Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 12 to Apr. 13, 2007.
Fern M. Snyder, 83, of Bettendorf, went home to be with the Lord, on April 10, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
A gathering of remembrance was held at the Moline Community Center on Thursday, April 12, 2007, followed by a memorial service, officiated by Rev. Gary Randol. Memorials may be made to the family.
Fern was born February 23, 1924, in Saline Township, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Ada (Engleking) Wolfley. She was united in marriage to John W. McGee on November 22, 1941, in Davenport. He preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Donald Snyder on February 24, 1956, in East Moline, Illinois. He also preceded her in death.
Fern worked as a seamstress for many Quad-City companies, including W.F. Bradford, Davenshire and Seaford Clothing Company. She was a member of The Jesus Church of the Quad-Cities in Silvis, Illinois. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved cat Precious. She also enjoyed playing bingo, sewing and taking care of her plants and her birds. She liked to sing and her favorite musical artist was Neil Diamond. Fern loved the Cubs and missed Sammy.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Sharon Florence, and her husband, Richard, of Wisconsin, Elizabeth Sneed, and her husband, David, of Davenport, Jacqueline Ramos, and her husband, Rudolph, of Moline, Illinois, and Robin Korth, and her husband, John, of Davenport; her son, Timothy Snyder, of Tacoma, Washington; her sister, Luella Gardner, of Bettendorf; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; a special sister, Berniece Jefford, of Bettendorf; many close friends at the Spruce Hills Village in Bettendorf; and a longtime family friend, uncle Del Schmook. All of these survivors will treasure Fern's memory and miss her dearly.
In addition to her husbands, John and Donald, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Powers, her sisters, Edith Johnson and Francis Wolfley, her grandson, Charles "Chuckie" Lea, and her brother-in-law, Owen Gardner.
Fern's Family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Mary Campbell, Dr. Andrew Edwards and the entire staff at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, for all their care, support and compassion.

I was introduced to Fern by her sister Luella. I didnt really know her that well but the times she came over to Luella's and visited with us, those were sweet times. I remember her love for Everybody Loves Ramond and how much she cared for her sister so much. I enjoyed the time we spent together and my heart goes out to Fern's family. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

I met Fern years ago. My grandma is Berniece Jefford and she introduced us. Fern was always quick witted and happy. She altered some things for me over the years and even managed to make that fun! She will be missed by many.

We met Fern through our friendship with her daughter Robin and son-in-law John. Fern had a sharp wit and always had a happy disposition. It was obvious that she loved her family and enjoyed her independence. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. We will miss her smile but know that she has moved on to a better place.

Fern made a bad time good and a frown turn around. For several long years her and her sister made coming to work a joy. They spread that joy to all who came in contact with them. God bless her and keep her treasured in heaven.
