Had the great good fortune to meet Sr. Botero in Monte Carlo during one of several vacations in that magical town I made in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Because I was considerably rotund at that time I offered to pose for him for one of his sculptures. With a pleasant smile he replied to my offer in a manner which indicated to me that he had been offered a free model before, "No, no I take skinny and make fat." Forty years ago and his comment still makes me laugh. What a unique and significant talent! RIP Fernando Botero.

He is, by far, my favorite artist. I have two small pieces in my bedroom; my large one of Il Bano is in my closet because I live with my daughter's family, and my granddaughters' friends thought it was me looking at the mirror. I wish I had so much more...You will be missed Sr Botero; descanses en paz y arte.
