June 23, 1928-October 28, 2020
DAVENPORT-Flora O Bland, 92, Davenport, IA, passed away at home Wednesday, October 28th, 2020. Celebration of Life will be held Friday, November 6th 930AM Visitation 1030AM Service at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church Davenport. Burial will be at the National Cemetery Rock Island Arsenal.
For the Safety of Everyone (Covid 19) The Family has Requested that Services be limited to Family Only. Masks and Social Distancing are Required, Capacity Limitations will be Monitored.
Flora was one of six children born to Joshua and MisOdessa Thompson Roberts. A Graduate Of Davenport High School. She Married Thomas A Bland Jr July 19, 1947 and together they had four children. She held several jobs and Eventually Retired as a Dietary Technician at Genesis West Hospital. Flora became a member of Naomi Chapter #1 OES at age 18. Raised up in Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Flora loved Serving the Lord and held various positions including Junior Choir, Sunday School Teacher, Junior Missionary, Secretary of the Usher Board, Stewardess and Deaconess.
In her spare time, she Enjoyed taking care of Her family, Her church family, and Everybody Else's family. She also Loved Socializing with her Lifelong Buddies THE GROOVY GIRLS.
Left to Cherish her Memories are Her Brother Howard (Ricky) Roberts, Rock Island IL, Sons Cornel (Sylvia) Bland Ottumwa, IA, Terry (Saundra) Bland Farmersville LA, Dwight (Denise Bland) Davenport, IA, Daughter Colleen Bostic (Larry Moore) Davenport, IA, two Nieces Roz and Meredith Roberts Naperville IL, 15 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 8 Great Great Grandchildren, Many Cousins and Friends.
She was Preceded in Death by Both Parents Joshua and MisOdessa Roberts, Her Husband Thomas A Bland Jr, Four Brothers Dr Earl (Jody) Roberts, Joshua (JD) Roberts, Bernard (Bernie) Roberts, William (Bill) Roberts, One Great Grandchild Deonte Bland and One Great Great Grandchild Nahlaya Gordon.
