Flora A. Hammond FLORENCE Flora Ayres Hammond, 66, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at home after an illness. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012, in Florence Baptist Temple, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. Burial will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the Ayres Family Cemetery in Nichols, SC. She was born in Lake View, SC, a daughter of the late Charlie Jones Ayres and Addie Scott Ayres. She was a graduate of Lake View High School and Columbia Commercial College. Mrs. Hammond owned and operated The Gift House in Florence for many years where she assisted many brides-to-be with their wedding plans. She was also an interior decorator and owned Elegant Interiors in Pawleys Island, SC. She was a Senior Sales Manager with Ecoquest International and was a recipient of Ecoquest's Presidents Club Award. Mrs. Hammond wa s a devoted member of the Florence Baptist Temple. Survivors include her husband, Horace V. Hammond, of the home; a daughter, Christy Hammond Jones, and two grandchildren, Tyler Hammond Jones and Kathryn Lee Jones, all of Florence; two brothers, Pendleton G. (Sheila) Ayres and Thomas B. Ayres, both of Nichols; four sisters, Alice A. Idol, Janice Ayres, and Donna Buelin, all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Gwendolyn A. (Charles) Melton of Hickory, NC; and two special nieces, Jackie H. Jones of Florence and Rhonda Barnhill of Nichols. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Dean Ayres of Dillon; and three sisters, Myra L. Ayres of Winston-Salem, NC, Mary A. Greene of Nichols, and Martha A. Stillwell of Hickory, NC.
