Florence Clement Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 3, 2025.
Florence Mae Cackowski-Clement entered heaven on August 27, 2025. She was born on September 28, 1938 in Johnson City, NY to Margaret (Prohoska) and Edward Cackowski. She is survived by her 2 daughters Karen (Ed) Kopansky (ME), and Susan (Jack) Weertman (TX), 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren & several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Virginia Lindsey, three husbands Louis Luchetta, Patrick Bennett and Maynard Clement and her son, Russell Luchetta.

Florence married Patrick in 1985 and they later moved to Zephyrhills, FL. One Sunday, they visited a small Baptist church. Later that week a couple from the church visited them and shared the Gospel. That day both Florence and Pat received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and were soon baptized. Three years after Pat's passing in 1996, Florence married Maynard and they enjoyed their golden years until his passing in 2013. In 2015, she moved to Granbury, TX to live near Susan and in 2025, she moved to Jonesboro, ME to live with Karen.

As a little girl, Florence memorized Bible verses that her Baptist schoolteacher taught in the one-room schoolhouse. Despite Florence's dementia, she remembered these Bible verses until her death. Her favorite was Revelation 20:15: "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."

Florence was a homemaker and was well known in town for her baked goods that she took to neighbors and the sick. She enjoyed cooking Slovak and Polish ethnic foods, crocheting and playing BINGO. She was a good caregiver to Pat and Maynard when they were ill and she missed them up until her death. Her family will miss her and look forward to being reunited with her.

My sweet grandma Flossie. I always felt so loved when I was around her, from the time when I was a little girl all the way to when I helped move her to Maine from Texas this year. Her life and memory are a blessing to all of us.

What a beautiful lady and darling pictures of her as a child. I don´t know Florence personally but know her daughter, Susie. Susie is very special to me. I´m grateful Florence came to know Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was also blessed to have Susie as her advocate for her health.
