FLORENCE HILDA CURRIE 1921 - 2016
Florence Hilda Currie passed away on October 12, 2016 after a brief illness. Mrs. Currie was a longtime resident of Arlington, Virginia. Born in Liverpool, England, as Florence Hilda Dingwall, she came to the United States at the end of WWII as the bride of Hugh H. Currie in 1946. Together they raised a family and helped others begin a life in America. Florence served in the British Army Royal Corps of Signals during WWII in Fighter Squadron operations.Florence is survived by sons, John and Stephen, their spouses Victoria and Frances; grandchildren Jane, Ashley, David and their families including great grandchildren Charlie and Sarah. Memorial arrangements are private.

I am so sorry for you loss. It is always so very hard to lose a loved one in death. God understands your loss and he will listen to your prayer and pay attention to your pleas for help. In the days of your distress, he will answer you. ( Psalms 86:6-7) To her sons, John and Stephen,spouses Victoria and Frances; grandchildren Jane, Ashley, David and great grandchildren Charlie and Sarah, your family and friends have my deepest condolences.

My grandmother was one of the most powerful influences in my life. She grew up in Liverpool, England and met my grandfather when serving as a soldier in the Royal Army during WWII. They moved back to America after that to start a life and family together. She lived and loved fiercely. She was smart and funny and kind and patient and constantly in charge all at the same time. I will do well in this life if I am a bit like her. I will miss her everyday, but I know she would want me to get on with things and love my kids and be happy. She always wanted to know if we were all happy-and not just to reassure her, but so she could help us figure it out if we were not. I will lean on the strength she gave me now.
