Faith Filled Woman
UTICA - Florence S. (Szczygiel) Jones, 99, formerly of Utica and Whitesboro, passed away on May 29, 2018 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown, NY.
Florence moved to Watertown several years ago and lived at St. Anthony Apartments. She was born in Utica, NY, on October 2, 1918. Florence married Fred A. Jones in Utica. Mr. Jones predeceased her in 1979. For many years, she worked as a seamstress and was a member of the ILGW. After her retirement, Florence volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital for fifteen years and also delivered Meals on Wheels.
Florence was a very faith filled woman and helped out at Holy Trinity Church for many years. Her positive outlook on life and her sense of humor were evident to everyone who knew her. She will be truly missed.
Florence is survived by her son, Thaddeus (Ted) and wife, Susan, of Dexter, NY; four grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and also several great- grandchildren, great-nieces and nephews. Her son, Robert, died in 2002. She was also predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4-6 p.m. at McGrath, Myslinski, Karboski & Nunn Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Friday, June 1, 2018 at 10 a.m. from the funeral home and 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.

Our hearts are heavy with the passing of Aunt Flora and we send our deepest sympathy to the family, She will always be remembered for her love of God and family, kindness and witty personality. We are sorry we won't be there to share in her services as Johann had surgery yesterday. However our thoughts and prayers will be.
