Florencio Ramirez Jr.

On Sunday the 16th of July, 2017 OUR Lord brought home one of the sweetest angels we have ever known. His name is Florencio Ramirez Jr. Junior to his siblings, Lencho to his family back home but to those that knew him around Pensacola he was known mostly as Cho and sometimes Joe!!

Our Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, friend and most importantly Husband to Kathy Ramirez will be dearly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Everyone who ever crossed his path was met with a friendly smile and a kind word. He loved and cherished his wife and family. His family wasn't just here in Pensacola. His family extended from North to South and East to West. He never knew a stranger and would never put himself first. He always said, "God, family and country" in that order and he meant it!! He was a proud US Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam Era. He was a "Life Member" of the Milton VFW Post 4833 and the American Legion Post 340.

He was born on September 5, 1935 in Rock Island, IL. He attended Alleman High School and joined the US Navy when he was 17. He met his bride to be while stationed in Newport, RI and started their family in 1964. They moved to Pensacola in 1974. He and his family have called Pensacola home for the past 43 years. He was retired from the United States Navy and Pensacola Junior College and was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Florencio Ramirez Sr and Emilia Ramirez; his son Juan Carmen Ramirez; his sisters, Jennie Ramirez Bustos, Mary Ramirez Soliz, Helen Ramirez Mosquedo and Vera Ramirez; his brothers, John and Manuel Ramirez.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Kathleen A. Riley Ramirez; his children Florencio "Lencho" Ramirez III (Julie), VA Beach, VA, Sean Ramirez (Susan), Pensacola, Michael Ramirez, Pensacola and daughter Jamie-Lynn Ramirez Geeker (Steven), brothers Frank Ramirez and Joe Ramirez, Illinois and Michelle Ruth, Pensacola. grandchildren, Ashley Ramirez, Brittany Ramirez, Jaymz David Ramirez, Aaron Ramirez, Bradley Ramirez, Markus Fletcher, Nickolas Geeker, Makayla Ruth, Caleb Spencer, James Gumino, Joshua Yates, Colby Geeker, Kayla Geeker; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends!!

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Bayview Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The rosary will be conducted at 7:30 pm. By Father George Thekku from Sacred Heart Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:00 am at Bayview Funeral Home and conducted by Father Dominic Phan Sa from St. Mary Catholic Church, followed by his burial at 12:00 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Florencio Ramirez III, Sean Ramirez, Michael Ramirez, James Ramirez, Marty Ramirez, Jay Ramirez; Honorary pallbearers will be: Paul Ramirez, Jaymz David Ramirez and Steven Geeker.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Milton VFW Post 4833 or St Jude would be greatly appreciated.
