I was granted a football scholarship by Coach FOSTER ANDERSON FOR THE 1972 CAL-State L.A. Football season.. I must say... of the : college offensive line coaches ( UNDER HEAD COACHES "SCRAPPY" RHEA, 1968-69 HARBOR COLLEGE& DICK COURY , 1st "TITANS" of Cal State Fullerton..1970..I Learned "THE BEST RUN BLOCKING TECHNIQUE" I ever saw in OVER 30 years of coaching..and how to PASS PROTECT A CONTAINING DEFENSIVE END! Which helped me vs PETE CARROLL´s team...Who was Univ of Pacific´s National ranked 1972 team.. where Pete( USC TO SUPER BOWL SEAHAWKS) was the free safety!
I learned thru 40 minute "DRIVING THE SLED DRILLS AND HIS TEACHING WE LINEMAN HOW TO BLOCK THE CROWTHER SLED CORRECTLY WHICH WAS A UCLA MANDATORY Drill! He showed me film of him blocking "CARL ELLER" EVENTUAL ALL -PRO MINNESOTA VIKING DEFENSIVE LINEMAN! Which really inspired me!.. NO RAH RAH ALL INTENSITY WAS HIS WAy! I learned a great deal from the man..ALTHOUGH WE DID NOT WIN ALOT OF GAMES WE WERE IN MANY TO THE END!! I wish I could have seen him before he left us because I wanted to tell him how much I appreciated what he taught me and what I taught for 30 years! RIP COACH! See him between Bonnie Ray Smith( his prize defensive player) and me intensely telling us to get inside for after game meeting .. and we won!!! Lol! Coach was always intense but he did have a sense of humor and sometimes a big heart as he selected me As Player of the week .. only offensive lineman to win that honor.. and I was playing injured for him!! & the DIABLOS! That game versus Pete Carroll´s team was amazing. Would like to tell you the story someday rest in peace, COACH.

A loving farewell to the man and the boy who touched my young heart so many years ago. You are now in the heart of God for all eternity, but the memories you left behind will never be forgotten.
