Franc Sirk Obituary
Franc believed that nothing was ever accomplished without honest hard work. With this ethic, he immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he settled in Port Alberni and began a career in the forest industry. He worked as a planer mechanic and set-up man at Somass Division until his retirement. He was followed by and married his wife Maria in 1961.
Despite leaving his home in Slovenia, part of his heart always remained there. With this in mind, he kept his fondness for homemade foods, especially wine making. Many good times were shared with his many friends over glasses of wine.
He is survived by his sister Darinka, wife Maria, sons Albert (Michiko), Dan (Suzanne) and grandchildren Andrej, Ryan, Lorenz, Adam and Elyas.
The Sirk family would like to thank the staff at West Coast General Hospital and Fir Park Village for their outstanding care and compassion.
Prayers will be on Friday April 21, 2017 at 7:00pm at the Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, 4005 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 4M6
Funeral service for Franc will be held on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 11:00am at Notre Dame Church, 4731 Burke Road, Port Alberni, BC V9Y 5P1
In lieu of flowers, donations in Franc's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of your choice.
