BAREFOOT BAY, Fla. — Frances L. Atkins, age 86, formerly of Marblehead and Wayne, Maine, passed away on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at her daughter's home in Barefoot Bay, Fla.
After graduating from Swampscott High School, she worked for The Lynn Institution For Savings, The Marblehead Messenger, and retired from Marblehead Public Schools.
Frances enjoyed her life following her retirement with her time spent in Wayne, Maine, and Barefoot Bay, Fla. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Swampscott, for many years.
She was married for 61 years to the late Richard Atkins, who predeceased her in 2008. She leaves her son, Bruce Atkins and his wife Gail Cassin of Newburyport; her daughter, Janice Hannify and her husband Timothy of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves one sister, Edith O'Connor of Lynnfield.
ARRANGEMENTS: Arrangements were made by the Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, Fla. Memorial to be held at a later date.
