FRANCES BEAN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 6, 2016.
FRANCES MAY BEAN Einan's at Sunset Frances May Bean, 95, peacefully passed away into the arms of Jesus on June 30, 2016. She was born in Royal Center, Indiana, to Ada and Ralph Swearingen on May 25, 1921. At the young age of 16, she married Garlent Dale Bean. They resided in Logan-sport, Indiana, where Ralph and Brenda were born. In 1947 they moved to Richland, Washington, when Dale began working at Hanford. Shortly after arriving, they welcomed Nilea and then Della into the family. Fran and Dale moved to West Richland, making their home there until Dale's death in 1986. They were married 49 years and were foster parents to over 100 children. Deciding that one special foster child should become a member of the family, they adopted Donna in 1966. In 1975, the Richland Altrusa Club honored Frances as a symbol of Tri-City Foster Mothers. Later, Fran moved to Richland, where she found much joy working in the flower gardens surrounding her condo. She began attending Richland Senior Center activities and enjoyed dancing with a gentleman who eventually won her heart. She and Donald Vaughn married and enjoyed 3 years together before his death. Mom moved through life at high-speed whether caring for children, growing flowers or doing handy work (sewing, knitting, and crocheting); many of which became award-winning items at the Benton/Franklin County Fair. She enjoyed bowling, mall-walking, and working with the Kadlec Hospital Auxillary, which she did until the last couple of years. She was a lover of Jesus and a member of Bethany United Protestant Church in West Richland until it closed. She then enjoyed her new church family at Northwest United Protestant Church in Richland, and was active in their Prayer Shawl Ministry. Fran is survived by her sisters Madeline Reynolds and Shirley Brown; her son Ralph (Barbara) and their children Robert (Sheri), Allen (Sheree) and James (Catherine); her daughter Brenda Church (Doug) and her children Sondra Steele (Frank) and Dawn Belote, as well as Brenda's step-children Beth Church and Leslie Mosier (Bob); her daughter Nilea Swisher (Robert) and their children Kevin (Kristin) and Kylie; her daughter Della Buell (the late James Buell) and her children Patrick Farris (Jada) and David Farris (Tiffany); and her daughter Donna Brown (James) and her children Kiri Rall, Sara Oakley, and Carli, as well as Donna's step-children Carrie Anthony (Dave), Nick Brown (Karen) and Daniel Brown. Fran also had many great and great-great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents; her husbands; her sisters; her brother; her grandson Darryl Bean, her great-grandson Kellan Bean and her great-great-granddaughter Jemyni Bean. The family would especially like to thank the wonderful angels from Hospice who cared for her during the past year, the staff at Guardian Angel Homes in Richland, and her cherished friends at Northwest United Protestant Church. There will be a private graveside service on Thursday, July 7, 2016 followed by a memorial at Northwest United Protestant Church beginning at 4:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice at the Chaplaincy; 1480 Fowler St, Richland, WA 99352 or the Northwest United Protestant Church Building Fund; 1312 Sacramento Blvd, Richland, WA 99354.
