GREENSBORO — Frances S. Carr died peacefully at home Friday morning, September 14, at age 90.
A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Mrs. Carr was born in Monroe, NC on May 31, 1922, to Loyd Erskine Sutton and Letha Hamilton Sutton. She graduated from Monroe High School and enrolled at Woman's College in Greensboro in 1939. In 1940, she went to work for Burlington Industries, where she worked for many years as secretary to company president J. Spencer Love.
She married Howard L. "Del" Carr in 1943. They had two children, Howard and Jonathan.
In 1977, Mrs. Carr went to work for Mr. Joseph Bryan, Sr. of Greensboro as social secretary and companion to Mr. Bryan's wife Kathleen, and after Mrs. Bryan's death, as social secretary to Mr. Bryan until his death in 1995.
Mrs. Carr was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by sons Howard and Jonathan, five granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at Forbis and Dick-Guilford Chapel.
