Frances Daggett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Lake Oswego - (April 12, 1944 - August 2, 2025)

Frances Suzanne Daggett, affectionately known as "Suzy." passed away August 2, 2025, at her assisted living residence in Lake Oswego, Oregon, with her daughter Brittany, by her side. A beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher, Suzy lived a full and adventurous life, marked by an infectious joie de vivre, a generous spirit, and fun sense of humor that was felt by all who knew her. Her greatest love and joy were her family, especially her two children, three grandsons, and two step-granddaughters. Heartbreakingly, Suzy was preceded in death by her son, Blake Daggett, in 2020. She is survived by her daughter Brittany Daggett; her three grandsons, William, Leo, and Rhett; and her sister, Kathy Miner.

Born on April 12, 1944, in Portland, Oregon, Suzy grew up on her family's farm in Troutdale, where her love of horses, building lifelong friendships, and travel began. A graduate of Reynolds High School in 1962, she attended the University of Oregon to begin her teaching degree. Through her close relationship with the family's foreign exchange student from southern France, she joined her to study at the University of Toulouse and then finished her teaching degree in 1968 at Portland State University. Suzy spoke fluent French and had a lifelong passion for French culture, food, and travel. The bonds she created in France carried throughout her life and now onto her children and grandchildren, which made her very happy. Thought of as the "Queen" of Noti Elementary, she loved teaching first grade and bringing fun to her dear colleagues from 1989-2002 when she retired.

Suzy was a devoted mother and grandmother; a gifted teacher and a special friend to many. She was a talented gardener, cook, and voracious reader; and enjoyed many memories with friends cheering for the Ducks, fishing, golfing, and traveling through Europe. She loved having fun and always looked for the best in people.

We will always remember her infectious laughter, warm smile, pure heart, and sense of humor. For Suzy, life was meant to be lived and felt - she was stubborn and spunky, and her spirit lives on through the memories and values she instilled in Brittany and Blake and their children: hard work, curiosity, loyal friendship, and an unpretentious love for the finer things in life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Suzy's life will be held on September 7th from 1-3pm.

Yesterday

I have such fond memories of Suzy. Not only one of the nicest people but funny!
We grew up as next door neighbors on the Sandy River near Troutdale.
I remember her horse Apache and Teddy, Kathy´s horse. Her dog Jock would sneak into or basement on hot summer days to lay on the cool floor .
We picked berries on her family farm all summer long.
As initiation into high school, "friends" smeared us with berries from head to toe. Knowing Suzy, I´m sure we got even.
Though we haven´t seen each other much in the last few years, I think of her often.
