FRANCES HOSTETLER Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 6 to May 7, 2016.
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - Frances (Kramer) Hostetler, 89, (24 days prior to turning 90), passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at her home in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
She was born May 25, 1926 in Plain City, Ohio, to Clara (Miller) and Joseph (JD) Kramer.
She has resided in Plain City, Ohio; Prescott Valley, Arizona; Black Canyon City, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Married to H. John Hostetler Nov. 30, 1944.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, H. John Hostetler; grandparents, Eli J. Miller and Veronica Weaver; 3 brothers-in-law; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother, Joseph Kramer; 2 sisters, Inez Fry, Mary Sawyer; 1 grandchild; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sons-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her eight children, Carolyn (Harry) Marquart, Marolyn (Ray) Whaley Buckel, Patricia Brambila, Elizabeth (Allan) Patterson, Lolita (Middleton) Hostetler-Hopps, John Michael (Pam) Hostetler, Richard (Angee) Hostetler, and Robert (Kathy) Hostetler; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Beachy, Emma Beachy Miller; brother, Jerry Kramer.
Frances liked to describe her family in the following way: "I am the mother of two and a half dozen children. Half of them are doubles. The first half have blue eyes and the second half have brown eyes. I had five girls before I had any boys."
Quote: "We worked together and we played together."
Graduated from Plain City High School.
Frances loved to sing and sang solos in church into her 80s. She is probably singing in heaven right now. She shared her love of music with her family. Every family gathering included singing hymns in 3, or 4 part harmonies.
She volunteered for Hospice, Meals on Wheels, several election boards, Canaan Elementary PTO, Madison County Community Theatre, Music Parents at Jonathan Alder High School, Madison County Mental Health Board, taught Sunday school and Bible school classes at Big Darby Baptist Church and Madison County Hospice. She also participated in community choirs.
As a devout Christian, Frances spent hours reading the Bible and praying. She painted ceramic villages, did excellent needle work and refinished furniture. She knew no stranger, and was known for her smile and sense of humor. People were drawn to her because of her loving nature.
A memorial service will be held for Frances at Big Darby Baptist Church from 3:30-4:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. An hour of fellowship time with the family will be held from 2 p.m. until the service starts, and for several hours after the service at the church.

It is hard to believe that five years have passed. We are reminded every day of Mom when we pass by Osuna Nursery. It is painted a bright yellow and Mom would always say " that is the ugliest building I have ever seen" and I would counter that it was the most beautiful building because it was John Deere yellow.

So sorry we can't be with all of you on Saturday for the memorial service for my Aunt Frances. I have so many fond childhood memories of days spent at your house, often combined with visits at Grandpa Hostetler's (Mose Doddy) house. Our prayers and sympathies, blessings and God's comfort to all of you cousins and extended family.

The happy memories of this wonderful lady are so special to me! She truly had so many gifts and talents she shared with others. My condolences to the whole family. May her example of love be with you and all of us she touched!

Sorry to the children for your loss! I knew all of you as children, especially Marilyn & Carolyn. Always loved your Mom!

One of her favorite sayings "I'm the best Mom you ever had". She was right of course.
