Frances Ringman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 15 to Feb. 18, 2009.

Frances A. Ringman
(Van Winkle)

Born to George and Etta Van Winkle, June 23, 1934, in Everett, WA, she went to be with her parents and her Lord comfortably and peacefully on February 11, 2009, at her home with her daughter by her side, after a prolonged illness she faced with unwavering optimism. She was known to say, "God gave me B positive blood, so I am going to be positive!"
Fran was a lifetime resident of Everett and after graduating from Everett High School, she began helping her parents operate the family business, the Rip Van Winkle Motel and Restaurant, where she was known as "Rips Kid."
She married and raised four children, and volunteered her time to support the Cub Scouts (former den mother), Parent Teacher Association (former president), United Cerebral Palsy (former Snohomish County Director), Everett Chamber of Commerce and numerous dinners, events and celebrations and also served as her Church's Memorial Chairman.
Fran enjoyed many good things in life such as bowling, painting, fishing, golfing, dancing and traveling to warm places, but most of all she loved to cook for family, friends, public events and charities.
She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Everett Elks Lodge and always felt welcomed by the members of the Everett Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Everett Eagles.
She is survived by son, Donald (Debbie) Ringman, Everett, WA; son, Dave (Cheryl) Ringman, Redwood City, CA; daughter, Loretta (Mike) Johnson, Everett, WA; and son, Darrell (Kathy) Ringman, Redwood City, CA; grandchildren, Kim, Jody, Marissa, Danielle, Brian, Kylene, Lindsay, and Lauren; six great-grandchildren; and many loving relatives and friends.
The graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m., at Evergreen Cemetery on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, the Memorial service at 11 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2531 Hoyt, Everett, WA, where a reception will be held to share memories and provide a time of fellowship.
Those who wish to make a donation should consider, The Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, Virginia Mason Foundation (Floyd and Delores Jones Cancer Institute), or Hospice of Snohomish County.
Heartfelt thanks from our family to Dr. Aboulafia and the Virginia Mason Team Medicine Staff for their loving care of 'Frances'. Fran's sons would also like to express appreciation to their sister Loretta for the strength she showed and the family support she provided while supporting Fran's needs during her illness.

Darrell, I was saddened to
hear that your mother has
passed away. Even though I
lived briefly across the
street from your family in the
70's, I never really got to
know your mom. I was at a
service the other day for one
of your neighborhood friends,
Jimmy Hanson. His mother and
I are good friends. Did you
know he passed away? So sad,
and only 39 years old. His
mom, Kathy, and I remember you
fondly. You used to play with
my son, Doug. You even helped
Doug and us move to Marysville,
so many years ago! Mrs. Kellogg
(remember her too?) used to
speak so fondly of you and
your mom. We always wondered
where you had moved to.
Again, my sympathy to you
and your family.
Feel free to contact me.

Mom:

I miss you and am sad that you have left us, but I also know you are in a place you've long prepared for.

I am so grateful we were able to share a few 'dances' last week and I'm so glad we were able to get you home as you wished.

I will miss you dearly, think of you often and cherish the memories of your life. Thank you for being my mom.

-Darrell

Family, Relatives and Friends:
