I was saddened to see Fran's obit in the Patriot-News. I first met him in the 70's when he played clarinet with my mother, Jean Griffith, in her band at the Summerdale Junction. The last time I heard him play was at Mom's memorial at Geo's Restaurant in August 2003. He was one of five musicians who made a pact to play the song "Goodbye", by Benny Goodman, at the funeral of each member as they passed.
I had purchased a CD to play that song at Fran's funeral, since he was the last surviving member, but am unable to attend. I would like to know where he and Eve are interred or what the plans are because I would like to visit the site and keep a promise to play "Goodbye" for him. May peace be with his family and know that you will be in my thoughts. Fran will join all the great musicians in a place where their music never stops. I welcome hearing from those who knew Fran through his music and kind heart.

To Fran's family,

I am the daughter of Johnny Sanker who was a childhood friend of Babe and your Dad. I located your Mom & Dad a few years ago after learning I lived near them in Harrisburg. It was a joy to listen to your Dad speak of old times and the dance shows he, Babe & my Dad were in at Martha Rose's Studio. I still have some of the Programs for those shows. Your Father was a warm kindhearted man and I'm so glad I got to know him.

We offer our condolences, and wish the entire family the best. (From Babe's grandson; & Fran's nephew/Babe's son)

Mike:

Our deepest sympathies go out to your family and you. May happy memories console all of you and carry you gently into tomorrow. May God hold your father and our veteran softly in the hollow of His hand, and give you peace.

To Fran's family: I am a resident at Lighthouse Pointe and the table where I usually sit at meals is very close to where Fran always sat. He never left the diningroom without stopping to grasp my hand. Every morning he greeted me with grace and warmth. I will miss his smile every day from now on.

Bonnie,
Fran moved from Carolyn street a little more than a year ago. I missed him!!. We would chat every morning when I delivered his paper to the back door
I was surprised to see the obit. I had not gotten ant email lately from him. I should have called
The family has my deepest sympathy

Mike & Family,
The sadness is overshadowed by the memories of how energetic and much fun we always enjoyed with Franny.
