Francis J. Foster, Jr.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis J. Foster, Jr., (87) on January 21, 2024. Francis, fondly known as Pops, Franny, and Frank the Crank was born to the late Francis J. Foster, Sr. and Catherine Mary Foster on November 16, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA.

Franny lived a life marked by resilience, wit, love and dedication to his family. He was a gifted musician who loved playing in a jazz band where he played the saxophone. He also loved playing violin and singing. He was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and never missed a game. He was a man who found happiness in bringing joy to others especially his children. He was extremely generous and selfless. He proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was recognized and invited to the U.S. Military West Point Academy. He decided instead to pursue his passion for engineering and attended Drexel University. Frank enjoyed a 25 year career as an engineer. Upon retiring Frank enjoyed a career as a toll collector on the Atlantic City Expressway.

Francis is survived by his loving and devoted wife and caretaker, Maryellen of 54 years, his children, Trish, Leo (Michele), Megan (Chris) and Melissa (Bryan). His grandchildren Matt, Mason, Tim, Parker, Alexa, Kiersten, Jake, Tyler and Big Jake. And his loving sister Catherine Hughes and nieces.

Let us come together to celebrate the charming and unforgettable life of Franny at a funeral mass memorial on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10am at The Catholic Church of St. Mary in Cherry Hill, NJ 08003.
