Francis Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 29 to Mar. 30, 2019.
Francis Xavier “Bunny” Reed, 51 of Forestville, MD, was born February 1, 1968 in Leonardtown, Maryland, to the late James “Jimmy” Barbour and Mary Magdalene Reed Wilson. During the early morning hours of March 27, 2019, God peacefully decided He needed Bunny in His Heavenly Kingdom. Francis Xavier (also known as Bunny) married Michelle Payton in 1997. From this union, two children were born, Markya and Khalil. Bunny was raised in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. He was educated at local schools, Mechanicsville Elementary, Margaret Brent Middle and Chopticon High School, where he graduated in 1986. He then went to work on Patuxent Naval Base for the Computer Sciences Directorate. Bunny held several positions after that to include, McKay’s Foodland, Charlotte Hall, MD, High Energy and Sting Security at Iverson Mall. There he found his calling in security. Bunny went on to work at several large retail stores including Montgomery Wards and Home Depot, specializing in Loss Prevention and Asset Protection Specialties. He was recruited by the National Gallery of Art in downtown DC as a Security Specialist and during that time, worked part-time at Southern Maryland Hospital Center. His passion was in retail and eventually, management at Home Depot asked him to return as a Security Trainer, Investigator and Loss Prevention Specialist, which he did until he was too ill to continue. Bunny enjoyed life to the fullest. His life was full of joy and laughter. He was a hard working and caring man. Some of his hobbies included playing cards on Friday nights with Joe Meredith, Dune Braxton and the crew, playing dominoes, shooting pool, fishing with his dad, watching the Dallas Cowboys and getting highly upset while watching MSNBC—but he wouldn’t turn the channel because he didn’t want to miss the next dumb thing 45 would say. But his pride and joy involved being around his children, Markya & Khalil. Bunny was a devoted father, uncle, cousin and friend. In addition to his loving children and mother, Bunny leaves to cherish his memory his brothers, Joseph Leroy Wilson, Jr., Joseph Desales "Jo-Jo" Thomas, Torian Leroy Wilson and Torez Joseph Wilson; his sisters, Mary Ellen (Mark) Wilson, Andrea (Jerome) Proctor, Penny Smothers and Vonda Jones; aunts, Diane Reed Mathews, Pamela Reed, Mary Jenifer, Theresa Barbour and Thelma (Louis) Bowman; uncles, Walter "Billy" (Shirley Ann) Reed, John Reed, Royal (Barbara/Pinky) Reed and Paul (Sabrina) Reed, Jr.; niece, Kaylyn Wilson; cousins who were more like sisters, Penny Reed, Monique Collins, Audrey Swann & Pam Roberts; Goddaughter, Stephanie Jaigobin and special friend, Angie Anderson and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his father, Jimmy and stepfather, Joseph Leroy "Roy" Wilson, Sr., Bunny was predeceased by his grandparents, Paul and Madeline Reed and William and Mary Barbour; stepmother, Annie Adams Barbour; uncles, Herbert Jean Reed, David Barbour and John Melvin (Peanut) Barbour and aunt, Lydia Ann Barbour. Bunny was an extremely popular man and loved by all he came in contact with. He would do anything for anyone who asked. He had a heart of gold and will be missed tremendously. Family and friends will unite on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 for visitation at 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Rd, Morganza, MD 20660. Interment to follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

GOD makes no mistakes; HE eases and comforts those in need. HE hears our crys, HE wipes our tears and HE answers our prayers. These are things that we must lean on when we think of "Bunny's" passing. "Bunny" was not "like a son" but a son to me and Joe and we will truly miss him. Our hearts are heavy but we know that the burdens that "Bunny" carried have been lifted and he is once again renewed. Until we meet again, "We love you, Bunny!

Although we realized that Xavier was seriously ill, we were unprepared for the news of his death. The business relationship and personal friendship we had with Xavier was a source of enrichment and enjoyment to us. We shall miss him greatly.

Xavier was very supportive to associates in our store (#8550) and the other Home Depot Stores he worked in.

Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss.
