Francis Tucker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 3, 2020.
Francis Edward Tucker was born March 24, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY and passed away June 2, 2020 in Chicago, IL. Due to the pandemic, family and friends could not be with him. However, all the nurses and doctors stayed with him until his last breath. They are all earth angels.

He was born to Robert Tucker and Mary McQuinn. He was the middle child of 5 children-Michael, Kathleen, Jimmy and Nancy. He went to Westbury School, St. Brigid School and St. Mary's High School. He earned his Eagle Scout.

The words on this page pale in comparison to the man he was. He was an enigma. There is no easy way to describe his complexities. He earned 3 Masters Degrees-Theology, Chemistry and Computer Science. He was a missionary in Papua New Guinea and was a professor of Chemistry at the American University in the Philippines. His last position was as IT manager at the University of Illinois, Chicago. To him this was the most rewarding job.

He had so many sides to him. He lived a devoutly religious life. He was a very serious devoted dedicated man to his work, yet had quite a vicious sense of humor. He was a swing dancer, food connoisseur and quite the traveler as noted by many Facebook pictures.

His most significant contribution was being a kidney/liver transplant survivor of 13 years. That did not mean he did not have many complications, serious side effects and frequent hospitalizations. It never stopped him from living life to the fullest. I want to especially thank his IT team for being his family, especially Matt and Ricky. I want to thank all his doctors and staff who cared for him throughout his years needing care for his many conditions.

He is predeceased by his parents, Mary and Robert and brother, Michael. He is survived by his sisters, Kathi (Jim) and Nancy (Tom); brother, Jimmy (Ruth); sister-in-law, Gay (Les); nephews, Jeremy (Ann), Matthew (Emily), Dan (Jennifer), Noah and Logan; nieces, Michelle (Dan) and Kim and many great nieces and nephews. So our dear brother what we want is for you is to fly, leaving your limitations, restrictions and sufferings behind. You are loved by so many and your presence will be missed.
So FLY….
