Frank “Jigs” Aiello, 79, of Oelwein, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 8, 2022.
Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday and for one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Military Graveside Service by the Oelwein American Legion Ross Reid Post #9.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, Iowa.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the Oelwein American Legion and the Oelwein VFW.

Frank Charles “Jigs” Aiello was born July 1, 1943, in Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Albert J. & Violet Florence (Kappmeyer) Aiello. He received his education at the Oelwein Community Schools. Jigs joined the U.S. Navy and honorably served from 1960 to 1964 on the USS Chukawan and the USS Aucilla. He worked at Hurst Roofing and then at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo from 1966 to 1992. He later worked in Oelwein at United Farm Tool and retired from City Laundry.
Jigs was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Oelwein American Legion for 55 years, IAM Union Waterloo Local #1728 and was a longtime Special Olympics and Oelwein Area United Way volunteer. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Jigs enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, bird watching, cooking, spending time with his dog, Smokey, and with his family.
Frank is survived by 3 Sons: Michael Aiello of Oelwein, Kenneth “Charlie” Aiello of Waterloo & Steven (Jen) Aiello of Readlyn; 5 Grandchildren: Brock (Kristin) Aiello of Hudson, Kas Aiello of Waterloo, Jada Aiello of Cedar Rapids, Danica Aiello of Readlyn & Ava Aiello of Readlyn; 2 Sisters: Sharon (Larry) Alitz of Oelwein & Catherine Blades-Aiello of Des Moines; Nieces & Nephews including Natalie Leo of Oelwein and Great Nieces & Nephews including Kylie Recker of Mitchellville.
Jigs was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter: Angela; brother: Joseph and a brother-in-law: Robert J. Leo.

Jigs was family to us and the rest of the Hursts. Always wonderful to Michelle and Stephanie growing up. Glad we did get to see him last year! He will be missed! Condolences to the family.
