Frank Bellecci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2025.
Frank Paul Bellecci, 96, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Concord, California. A proud son of Sicilian heritage, Frank was born on July 6, 1929, in Martinez, California.

After graduating from Alhambra High School, Frank pursued his education at San Francisco City College, where he studied Hotel and Restaurant Management. However, his professional path led him to land surveying. He began his career with Contra Costa County before founding his own firm, Frank P. Bellecci Land Surveying, in 1970. Through decades of sacrifice and leadership, Frank built a respected business that reflected his commitment to integrity, relationships, and hard work. He left a lasting legacy by training and employing others into the craft before retiring.

Family was the cornerstone of Frank's life. He shared 71 years of marriage with his wife Joanne until her passing in 2023. Together they raised five children: Pauline, Catherine, Frank, Mary, and Nancy. Frank took great pride in being a father and grandfather. He found joy in spending time with his grandchildren baking birthday cakes, woodworking, playing cards, doing puzzles, or just visiting.

Frank's zest for life extended well beyond work and family. Frank served on the City of Martinez Parks and Recreation Commission in the 1970's. He was the driving force behind the City implementing an aggressive parks program so that the people of the City had effective, adequate, and useful places to actively recreate.

In retirement, he and Joanne traveled extensively across the globe. Their journeys took them to Italy and Sicily-lands of deep ancestral roots-as well as Germany, Russia, France, Thailand, Switzerland, Australia, and Israel. These travels enriched their lives with unforgettable experiences and deepened Frank's appreciation for different cultures. Curiously, he often would meet someone he knew while traveling abroad...a business associate, cousin, or even an old schoolmate!

He was a man of many and varied interests spending hours in the garage wood working, collecting stamps, bottling Bellecci red wine vinegar, or grabbing a game of bocce ball at the Martinez wharf!. His generous spirit and optimistic outlook endeared him to all who knew him. Whether visiting friends or spending time with family, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife Joanne (2023); daughter Catherine Ann (2004); his parents; and his 3 siblings. He is survived by his children Pauline M. Bellecci (Robert Lee), Frank C. Bellecci (Mona), Mary E. Machado, and Nancy P. Brookins; his 5 grandchildren Salvadore Bellecci (Jennifer), Michelle Bellecci, Jacob Machado, Fox Machado, and Sarah Miller (Brett), along with many nieces and nephews.

Frank will be remembered for his devotion to family, entrepreneurial spirit, love of tradition, and the kindness and generosity he extended to others throughout his long life. May his memory bring a smile to all those who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery on Wednesday, July 30th at 10:30 a.m., followed by a reception at Queen of Heaven.
