Frank Urquieta Esqueda

Francisco "Frank" Urquieta Esqueda peacefully passed away at home on May 22, 2024, shortly after his 83 birthday with his loving wife Kathy and son Chris at his side. He was the third child born to immigrants, Joseph and Rosa Esqueda, May 14, 1941 in Orange, California after his brothers Joseph Jr. and John and then his sister Julia after him.

When he was a child, he started picking fruit with his family up and down the state of California. For a time, he was a professional bowler and won tournaments. He started in construction as a hod carrier at about 18 years old in Orange County, California and then trained to be a Superintendent. He was a Superintendent over Las Vegas subdivisions and later many San Diego County subdivisions. In his later years, he and his son worked together as Esqueda Construction out of Oceanside, California.

His joys were Jesus, family, and golf. He could be found at Arrowood Golf Course in Oceanside with his son and friends. His last days were spent taking care of his greatest love, his wife of sixty-one years, Kathy. His laugh and silly disposition will be missed.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen S. Esqueda, son Christopher, daughter Melissa, granddaughter Isabel, sister Julia, and many nieces and nephews.
