Frank R. Finn Jr.

Hey Frank. It won't be the same. You wrote about my son, Travis, in Silver Bullets, in middle school, in high school and then college and for that I have a scrapbook of wonderful memories.
You wrote about the Cotuit Kettleers that lived with my family and me for many years and for that I have another scrapbook.
I thank you for these gifts that will stay with my family forever.
Hey Frank. It won't be the same.

After returning from vacation this week I was saddened to hear of Frank's passing. Having been an athlete in Barnstable since I was young I cannot recall anyone who devoted as much time and energy to spotlighting youth sports as Frank did. Even in adulthood, whether it be the men's hockey league I play in or the annual basketball tournament I organized, I could count on a call from Frank... and there he would be - with his camera - happy to help bring awareness to our events. My thoughts go out to his family. He was a good guy and he will be missed.

We just learned of your loss and Nora and I wanted to pass along our deepest sympathies at this time. No words can take away the loss, but it must be comforting to hear all the wonderful stories from the people that knew Frank and were touched by his kindness.

Cathy, I was shocked to see Frank listed among the obits. However, seeing his name brought up many good thoughts that we shared in the 70s when he ran the A-V Center at Lyceum Hall. I will always remember his scraggy beard and warm smile. He went on to better things, and somehow we managed to have intermittent contact. Working together with you helped that. Last I remember of Sarah, she was running the Main St. race. Any changes? Your son, I never knew. My prayers go with him and you and the family at this difficult time. Paul Provost Nanchang, China

I have only had the pleasure of knowing Frank for a very short time.I work at Lujean Printing and talked and worked with Frank only for the last eight months,he was a wonderful gentleman and a pleasure to work with on the edition of the Cape Cod Sports report.I will miss his weekly visits and calls. Know that he and your family have been in my prayers for months,and I will continue to pray for you.

Dear Cathy,Sarah and Scott:
What a wonderful husband father. What a wonderfuld friend Frank has been to us and the Cape Community. He had a dream to make each child (in sports) feel recognized for his or her talents. His dream was the Cape Cod Sports Report where he printed artcles and pictuers that parents, families and friends could look at and be proud. Our boys benefited from Frank's camera many a times. Thanks Frank. We also will miss his visits to the office discussing what was or wasn't getting enough attention in local sports, and his times on the bus on route to a off cape game.

No words can erase the pain but no that most of us have been there before and no what you are going through and wish we could take it away. Take Care

I was saddened to read of Frank's passing. After our boys left BHS I would rarely bump into Frank, however I always made a point of Thanking him for his coverage of all the sporting events over his many years. His efforts made so many Barnstable children experience their first rush of pride in thier accomplishments. Frank was a hidden treasure in the fabric of our community's life and one not easily replaced.

My deepest prayers go out to Frank's family. I have been the Cotuit Kettleers team photographer for four years, going into my fifth seson this summer. I first met Frank three years ago. We immediately hit it off. What a true gentleman he was. If I needed help as far as what lens I should use, how I should position myself, Frank was there to assist me. When we talked before the games, I remember his voice as being gentle and soft, yet a person who I enjoyed talking photography with because I knew he would help me with any question I threw out to him, and also, I knew that this man was a wealth of knowledge. When the CCBL season starts in just three short months, and I arrive at Lowell Park well before game time to get setup, I'll be thinking of my friend, a friend who helped me greatly in my profession, and someone who was a gentleman in every sense of the word.

As a parent of a Barnstable High senior who has played sports her whole life, I have seen and talked with Frank at all types of sports venues for many years. We will miss him and feel indebted to him for the extraordinary effort he has put for the benefit of youth sports. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Frank will be missed by the entire sports community on the Cape. He is a part of our sports family, Frank will always be in our hearts and will hold a special place on all of our sports fields.

Uncle Frank was like a second father to me as a youngster.
He was by far my favorite relative to be around and spend time with.
We had just played hit and catch this past summer while i was on the Cape.
Those great memories and many more, i'll keep with me forever!
Sports are my passion and i know were my Uncle's.
He was a very special person and anyone that got the chance to be around him knows that!!!

Frank Finn, just the name resognates feelings of achievement and goodness; as he was symbolic of how he made people feel about themselves.

He will be greatly missed, and I am so fortunate for the opportunity to have known him.

My deepest sympathies to Cathy, Sarah and Scott. Frank was such a part of so many fun memories of when my family and I lived on the Cape. He was at every sporting event that we were involved in, and our tiny kids triathlons at our Centerville house, in which Sarah and Scotty were a part of, were quite memorable.Coffee and donuts after the family mass at Our Lady of Victory will also be fondly remembered.May you rest in peace, Frank Finn. You will never be forgotten.

I first met Frank when I was 11, I was just starting Barnstable Little League. A couple of years later, there he was taking pictures at the Babe Ruth Prep League game I was in. Then it was Barnstable Senior Babe Ruth, He was taking pictures at my high school games, always taking the time to say Hi to me. He saw me after a game and said "still causing trouble, arty?" I just laughed, like he knew I would. I graduated, and moved on to college, playing there, Frank even had put me in a quick blurb in his College Sports Section.

When I graduated, I came back to the Cape and begain coaching for Barnstable Senior Babe Ruth. And sure enough, during the start of a game I could turn around and see him standing next to the dugout ready with his camera. He would always make his way over to talk in between shots. I started playing in a men's league, and I pulled up in my car for a 7 pm start in Harwich, and wouldn't ya know it, he was there too. "Still causing trouble arty" - "you know it, frank, you know it."

I truly believe that those of us he followed from the start of our sports lives and watched us grow up over the years that he always looked at us and saw the little kid.

It will be very strange to be at the field this season and not turn around and see frank somewhere, walkin around with that long legged walk, trying to find the best spot to get his shots in.

My thoughts and prayers are with Frank's family at this time. I grew up in Barnstable, playing various sports, including Women's hockey for the Cape Cod Aces and I fondly remember Frank attending many if not all of these events-supporting local sports for women.

My deepest sympathies to Cathy, Sarah and Scott. I wish I could be there. I miss you guys and I'll miss my big brother Frankie. Sending love and prayers.

Frank was dedicated to youth sports and cared about all the kids. I helped coach baseball with Frank over the past few years and he gave a lot of his time to the kids, both on and off the field. My sympathies to Cathy, Scott and Sarah. He will be missed by many people
