Frank Garcia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 1, 2023.
Frank David Garcia, 85, passed away on June 12, 2023, in Sacramento, California. He was born in Powell, Wyoming on February 16, 1938, to Hortencia and Rafael Garcia. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Garcia, and their children Monica Moore (Keith), Matthew Garcia and Jon Garcia (Linda). He also leaves behind siblings Esther Garcia, John Garcia, Rafael Garcia, Dorothy Garcia Lopez and Andrew Garcia; his grandchildren Rochelle (Richard), Jaycee, Brooke, Jordan, Madeleine and Taylor; step-grandchildren Mikayla and Hayden; and great-granddaughters Reese, Raegan and Penelope.

Frank graduated from Norte Del Rio High School in Sacramento, California, where he was a stand-out athlete. He proudly served in the National Guard. Frank held management positions at Thrifty Drug Store and Firestone Tire Company. In his retirement, he worked security at event venues and even worked the Superbowl at Levi Stadium. Later in life, Frank enjoyed being a camp host, where he could share his love of the beach with his wife, family members and fellow campers.

Frank had a great sense of humor and was known for his unconventional behavior, off-beat antics and adventurous spirit. He had a passion for sports, both playing and watching. He loved cheering on his favorite teams, especially the 49ers. Frank enjoyed gardening, cooking, bike riding and most of all - playing with his grandkids, attending their sporting events, school functions and dance recitals. Frank was a tough, hardworking, strong individual with a big heart. He was dedicated and devoted to his family - a true patriarch.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon which will be held on July 15, 2023, at 1pm at the Sacramento Police Officers Association (SPOA) Hall located at 550 Bercut Drive, Sacramento, CA.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Frank's name to the Hospice Foundation of America or the charity of your choice.

Bonnie and family. I am so sad for your loss of Frank. My best memory was when my dad took me to Firestone to see Frank. Frank took me for a ride in the Firestone go cart. It was the highlight of my day. He was a fun person to know always cheerful and a good man! Joelle McCarthy
