Frank Hartung Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 14, 2024.
Frank Edwin Hartung, 84, of Boise Idaho died Friday, June 7, 2024; peacefully at home in the arms of his adoring wife, Janet (Ambrosini) Hartung; following a valiant battle with cancer.

Frank was born on February 2, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Raymond and Anna Hartung. He graduated from Harvard University and received his Masters at Stanford University. He moved to Houston, Texas

in the early 1960's for a career in the booming oil industry. Frank went on to become a securities broker. He was married briefly to Christin Stevens. Frank eventually decided to use his financial acumen to the benefit of the Texas State House of Representatives, where he proudly served for eight years before retiring. Frank met Janet while volunteering at a fundraiser for NPR, and they married in 2009, at which point he joined her in Boise.

An avid cyclist, Frank traveled the world, exploring and riding in many events. Everyone who knew him will remember his penchant for a good chocolate chip cookie, or even a mediocre one. Any cookie actually! Frank remained passionate and engaged in Republican politics, right up until this current election. He will forever be remembered as a gentle and humble man by all who knew him.

Frank will be welcomed into the presence of his Heavenly Father because of his lifelong faith in Jesus Christ.

In addition to Janet, he is survived by her daughter Aqua Hartzog and grandson Gabe. Frank is also survived by a sister MaryAnn Judson; nieces Linda (Judson) Creviston and Sandy (Judson) Kemink; and four grand-nieces; Marissa Creviston and Sarah, Molly and Lucy Kemink.

Services will be private.

Janet, Frank taught me the difference between a Republican and a Democrat and I will be forever grateful! He was a dear friend and a wonderful man.

I couldn't believe it when i saw that Frank had died. I first met Frank in Houston when he was 27 and I was 22. we were both involved in young Republican activities and we quickly became good friends. He was involved in fund-raising and I was running the monthly cocktail parties. At a later date he became a state representative in Austin and successfully managed Kay Bailey Hutchinson's first political campaign. Frank was one of the few political figures I have known that was completely honest. If there were more Republicans like Frank nowdays things would be so different!

Frank gave me important financial pointers in my life at that time as he was especially proficient in that area

Frank's death is a loss to the country.
