Frank Howerter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 20, 2025.
Frank Howerter was born in DeLong, Illinois in 1941. After joining the Army reserves and working for a few years in Alaska, he married Patrice Yeargan in Seattle, Washington on Sept 29, 1972. Frank and Patrice raised three kids in Burien Washington; Ralph, Ginny, and Beth. Frank worked as a commercial truck driver and was a hobby woodworker, ham radio operator, gardener, handyman. In 2012, they retired to Cactus Forest area in Florence, Arizona. Frank passed away at his home on April 15th, 2025 at the age of 83.

He leaves behind his wife Patrice, son Ralph (wife Megan Austen), daughter Ginny (husband Mike Christianson), and daughter Beth (husband Derek Hull). His legacy continues in his four grandchildren; Ryan, Sarah, Zeke, and Logan.

Frank often said he would make a good hobbit. He enjoyed second breakfast and a good pipe smoke and, like all Hobbits, "But where our hearts truly lie is in peace, and quiet, and good tilled earth, for all Hobbits share a love of things that grow."

He knew the secret of contentment. He figured out how to be content with what he had and happy in his own backyard. He loved a good corny joke and a hearty laugh. Nothing made him happier to have family around him, joking and eating.

He will be greatly missed and is much loved.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of cards are welcome.

I feel very blessed to have so many great memories with my bonus family -the Howerters -as my great friend Ginny and I visited them while we went to college. Such a great family and such a great, and one of a kind man Frank was. Always hilarious and so kind hearted. Sitting in his chair smoking the pipe and just loving the moments he had with his family and friends. He and Patrice always made people feel so invited and appreciated. We all loved Frank and the way he loved family. He will be greatly missed by us all. Love always Harper, Pattie, Ann-Margreth, Lars, Pamela, Calvin and Amelie

I will forever carry fond memories of Frank. Growing up alongside my childhood best friend Ralph,, spending countless hours playing RISK or playing basketball in the driveway, I loved spending time at the Howerters home. I loved the smell of the wood shop, fresh cut wood, maybe even the smell of the stains and laquers on Franks beautiful custom woodworking projects. He was so talented and always kind to me. Sending big hugs to you all especially my bonus mom, Patrice.
Love,
Brian Whitehead
