Frank was an exceptional scholar: curious, conscientious, disciplined--and incredibly well organized. He was an equally considerate and thoughtful teacher who was always striving to make his courses as engaging and current as possible. His gentleness of spirit and his consideration of others, both colleagues and students, were constants in his professional life. We all will miss his kind heart and sympathetic, well-informed counsel. He was a gentleman and scholar in every respect.

Frank was the kind of teacher who is increasingly rare, one who viewed his students as his friends and future colleagues. He would socialize with undergraduates, graduates, alumni, faculty, staff, one and all. In doing so, his wit, humanity and intelligence became an inspiration to all. A quiet hero.

Frank Langdon was not only a great scholar who remained intellectually active long after his retirement but also a warm and compassionate human being. He is sorely missed by the BC academic community.
